Building Resilient Minds (December 2021) – Dr. Sebi's Cell Food

Sometimes life seems to throw you to the ground and kick you while you’re down. But, it doesn’t matter how many times you fall, the important thing is you keep on GETTING UP!

Resilience is the quality of being able to get back on your feet and move forward once again... especially when you’re facing life’s toughest moments.

In the same way you nourish your body with wholesome, alkaline foods, your mental health is nourished by a robust, resilient mindset. Welcome to the school of life, where bouncing back is a must. Get familiar with your inner resilience because you’ll be needing it for this bumpy ride we call life!

Dr. Sebi’s Full Spectrum CBD-Hemp Products hit your system with therapeutic cannabinoids that turn down stress and evoke a sense of calm. CBD enhances your emotional and mental resilience, so you can think clearly and decisively about what to do next.

“Keep going every day.” - Dr. Sebi.

Why We Need to be Resilient

Financial ruin. Political division. Medical corruption. Ecological destruction. Divorce. Drugs. Death. Doom and Gloom. Life isn’t easy for anyone.
Resilience - your ability to adapt and bounce back from adversity, stress, and trauma - is a skill you can grow. Resilience helps us get through tough times and grow into more capable, confident, and compassionate people.

Your mind prefers the ‘safe’ zone of comfort and familiarity. Developing resilience will encourage you to gradually test your limits and stretch your zone of comfort, like strengthening a muscle. Each challenge you successfully resolve increases your competence, confidence, and ability to deal with the next (inevitable) issue.

Since your mind naturally seeks homeostasis (balancing energy and resources) it prefers to stay ‘safe’ (because it can control what it knows and not waste energy). But, the constant-changing nature of life doesn’t care about our comfort zones. So, if you are floating down a river of discomfort anyway…..why not learn to swim, and take control?

How to be Resilient

Resilience involves these core personal agreements - which you can simply choose to do from this day forward, like deciding to do squats, it’s an exercise you simply need to practice:

  • Thinking well of yourself and your capabilities
  • Making plans and being committed to them.
  • Focusing on what you can control, not on what you can’t control.
  • Seeing yourself as a proactive change-maker, not a passive victim.
  • Managing your emotional state.
  • Managing your mindset and internal talk.

Resilient people willingly take on life’s challenges, and they come out stronger, more capable because of it. Resilient people have developed the skills, mindset, and habits to slug the curveballs life throws ‘em.

It doesn’t matter where you come from, where you live now, or how much money you have, life is going to challenge you. Financial disaster, fear-mongering media, political upheaval, and deep social unrest have become a part of our everyday reality. Do you trust your ability to keep going when the odds are stacked against you?

You Are Resilient!

Before building more resilience, it’s useful to recognize how resilient you already are. We invite you to take 15-20 minutes to write down and reflect on:

  1. The most difficult episodes of your life.
  2. Problems you solved.
  3. Conflicts you resolved.
  4. Battles you won.
  5. Times you were pushed to your limits.
  6. Times you overcame bad habits.
  7. Capabilities you have and skills you’ve learned.
  8. Injuries and illnesses you healed from.
  9. Times you literally fell over - and then got up again.
  10. The fact that you’re still here now!

When you honestly reflect on the challenges you’ve been through, you’ll see your own resilience at play throughout your life already. Now we’ve got a solid foundation to build from, here are some ways to develop even more resilience.

7 Strategies for Building Resilience

1) Find Meaning - feeling that what you do has a purpose makes a huge difference to your resilience. When life is difficult, having meaningful commitments - whether looking after somebody else, learning a musical instrument, or a new language - keeps your attention focused on things that enrich you.

2) Develop an Internal Locus of Control - people with an external locus of control think that whatever happens to them is outside of their control, while people with an internal locus of control think what happens is within their control. This mindset difference means that people with an internal locus of control take responsibility for changing their circumstances.

To develop an internal locus of control, focus on what you can control and make an action plan for creating the circumstances you want in your life. The next time something goes wrong, instead of criticizing yourself or blaming others, express your feelings of disappointment then move on to focus on what you can do to improve the situation.

3) Develop Adaptability - Resilience is all about dealing with change. One of the best ways to become more adaptable is to seek out what other adaptable people think and do during challenges. Then compare their approach with your own, and you’ll have a clear idea of what skills or attitudes you need to grow to be more adaptable. What resilient people or characters inspire you?

4) Express Gratitude - gratitude builds resilience by helping us highlight the silver linings in dark clouds. It helps us maintain a healthy perspective that is absolutely essential to building a resilient mindset. Use methods like a ‘Gratitude Alphabet’ (naming one thing to be grateful for from A to Z), or ‘Body Appreciation’ (expressing specific thanks to each part of your body for the amazing job it does) and be creative and frequent with your thanks.

5) Laugh More - laughter reduces stress and even physical pain, a powerful tool in hard times. Seek out your favorite comedian’s videos or spend time with funny people. Free Online Laughter Yoga classes and laugh-a-long tracks can provoke genuine laughter even when you fake it at first. Laughter is healing and very relaxing.

6) Ask Friends & Family For Support - studies have shown that the stronger our relationships are the more resilient we’re likely to be in the face of adversity. The support we get from our friends and family - being able to share our problems and receive encouragement - can make all the difference. Start a conversation with your loved ones about how they would like to be supported and what support you need.

7) Shift Your Perspective, Embrace Your Challenge - Each challenge we face is an opportunity to grow. When you seize the opportunity to come out stronger each time, then life’s ‘tests’ help you grow. Don’t avoid adversity; face it head on. Living an easy life doesn’t give us the chance to reach our potential – resolving your biggest challenges could unlock your greatest rewards.

“This is what we have failed to see. We always measure things with up and down and good and bad and in between. No, things are different.” - Dr. Sebi.
